This wiki will help you navigate your way through 8th grade science.
At FIL the 8th grade science class in an inquiry based curriculum that will offer many "hands-on" learning activities. Each unit we cover will relate the physical science concepts we are studying to everyday events or activities. The end of a unit will offer you and your group the opportunity to complete a Chapter Challenge. This challenge allows you, the learner, to apply what you have learned during the unit to a real-life scenario.
Within each unit you will be placed in a lab group to complete the many activities that help you to better understand the concepts we are learning. Each activity begins with a What Do You Think? question to accelerate your brain. Activities then offer investigations for you to see in a real way the concept to be learned. After the activity is complete, you will proceed to the Physics/Chem Talk section to wrap-up what you have learned in the activity. A For You To Read section will explain the concepts even further. After each activity we will discuss what you have learned and highlight the important parts for you to remember.
Physics/ChemistryTo Go is a section that allows you to practice what you have learned. This section may offer you a scenario to explain using the new terms/concepts you have just learned. It may also offer you some problems that will allow you to apply a new formula to the science we are studying. This practice is a must as you work to master the new concepts!
Along the way we will have quizzes/tests to see how well you have mastered the objectives for each chapter.
